A suspect has been arrested in a Stockton domestic violence murder where the victim was found in a garbage can.

Stockton Police arrested Daniel Winkler, 36, on suspicion of murder. The body of the female victim, who police believe was dating the suspect and the victim of a domestic violence incident was discovered by police on the late morning of Sunday, August 13 on the  9000 block of Don Boriga Way.   

During their investigation, homicide detectives detained Winkler as a person of interest. Detectives believe Winkler killed his victim on the 700 block of Erma Way.

The forensic investigation suggests the 37-year old victim died from multiple stab wounds. Winkler is being held at the San Joaquin County Jail and is not eligible for bail.
