Juvenile Suspected of Attempted Bank Robbery Apprehended By Elk Grove Police

A 17-year old suspected of an attempted bank robbery in Elk Grove this morning is in custody after Elk Grove Police apprehended him following a foot pursuit. 

On Friday, November 24, at 10:59 a.m the suspect entered the Bank of America branch on Calvine Road near Elk Grove-Florin Road and handed a teller a note demanding cash. The teller did not comply with the demands and the suspect left without any money in a northwest direction.

Responding officers from the Elk Grove Police initiated an investigation, and a witness saw a person matching the suspect was seen running through a nearby neighborhood.

Officers began searching for the suspect in the area of Liscarney Way and Clonmel Court, just north of Calvine Road in unincorporated Sacramento County. While checking the area, officers located a person matching the description of the suspect at a residence in the 8800 block of Clonmel Court.

When officers attempted to contact the suspect, he ran away from officers through several backyards then into a nearby park, and following a short foot pursuit, the subject was detained. The subject was positively identified by witnesses as the person responsible for the attempted robbery.

The suspect, is 17-year-old Sacramento resident, was taken into custody then transported to Sacramento County Juvenile Hall.
