Traffic Advisory - Lane Closures, Detours For Major Construction Projects in Elk Grove

January 10, 2018 |

From the City of Elk Grove |

The Public Works Department has begun preparations for two major construction projects this week that will result in temporary lane closures and detours on Bruceville Road and at the Sheldon Road and Bradshaw Road intersection.
Sewer Lift Station and Force Main
Work to locate and identify existing utilities to construct a sewer lift station to service the Southeast Policy Area (SEPA) will generate temporary traffic controls on Bruceville Road between Bilby Road and Whitelock Parkway this week and next, weather permitting. Sewer lines will be installed beginning on January 22. This work is expected to take approximately four month to complete. This installation will require lane closures and detours on Bruceville Road from Bilby Road to Poppy Ridge Road during construction. Local and emergency access will be maintained.
This new sewer construction will provide service for all the future residents and businesses within SEPA. Construction of the sewer station began in October 2017. The $6.9 million project is estimated for completion by summer 2018.
Affected Area: Bruceville Road from Bilby Road to Whitelock Parkway
Temporary Traffic Controls in Place: January through May 2018
Roundabout at Sheldon and Bradshaw Roads
The construction of a roundabout at Sheldon and Bradshaw Roads is anticipated for this summer. Preparations for this project include the relocation of some utilities and the removal of some trees within the project footprint. Tree removal work will be scheduled through February, weather permitting. Relocation of utility lines will result in lane closures on Bradshaw Road from January through March.
This project will install a roundabout to improve traffic flow and replace the bridge under the existing intersection. A full closure of the intersection is planned during construction of the roundabout. Construction is expected to occur during the summer school break. Additional details will be available later this year.
Affected Area: Bradshaw Road at Sheldon Road
Temporary Traffic Controls in Place: January through March 2018
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes until project work is completed in these areas. Detour signs and electronic message boards are in place to alert motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists of detours.
