Elk Grove Homeowners Chases Down, Captures Suspect Burglarizing Garage, Vehicle

An Elk Grove homeowner who observed a probationer allegedly trying to burglarize his house was captured following a foot chase. 

At approximately 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, Michael William Jones was observed entering a garage on the 9500 block of Dominion Woods Lane by the homeowner. The homeowner also saw Jones allegedly going through his vehicle.

When confronted, Jones fled on foot and the homeowner gave chase. After capturing and detaining Jones, responding Elk Grove Police officers discovered Jones was on probation, and a subsequent search led to the discovery of a controlled substance and narcotic paraphernalia.

Jones was arrested and is held at the county jail on a bail of $1 million on one felony and three misdemeanor charges. Arraignment is on Thursday, March 8.
