As required by state law, Elk Grove City Council members Pat Hume, Stephanie Nguyen, and Darren Suen filed their statements of economic interest for 20017 with the Elk Grove City Clerk's office. The declarations show among other things, gifts they received while conducting city business.

Suen reported 17 separate gifts during the year which included meals during lobbying trips to Washington D.C., and mostly tickets to banquet-type events in the Sacramento area. The total value of the gifts is $3,036.

Included in the $3,036 was lodging provided by the Asian Pacific American Leadership Forum, San Marino, California at an event described as leadership training on January 5, 2017. It did not say where the training was held.

Suen also accepted another lodging gift valued at $440 from the Carpenters Local 46 of Sacramento. The disclosure did not reveal the site of that training.

Nguyen, who was appointed to a vacancy on the Elk Grove City Council in February 2017, reported six gifts from five parties in her first disclosure that were valued at $1,313. Three of the gifts were meals during the annual lobbying trip to Washington DC called Cap to Cap by the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce, and the other three included a training session in Sacramento and two banquet-type events.

For 2017, Hume reported the receipt of three gifts from three entities with a value of $650. The gifts included a meal valued at $200 during a lobbying trip to Washington DC sponsored by the advocacy group Region Business, a golf outing valued at $150 provided by Republic Services, and tickets to the Sacramento Kings valued at $300 provided by Sutter Health through their scholarship foundation.

Elk Grove Council Member Steve Detrick filed his report in February, and Mayor Steve Ly has yet to report his gifts report. The filing deadline for statements of economic interest is today.
