Charter School-Backed Sacramento County Board of Education Candidate Leads in Early Results

 A candidate with significant financial backing from charter school interest has a narrow lead in early results for the Sacramento County Board of Education Area 3 seat.

Paul Keefer has 6,501 or 53-percent of the vote over incumbent Richard Launey, who has 5.575 or 47-percent of the vote. 

According to the Sacramento Bee, of May 31 Keefer has accepted over $150,000 in backing from charter school interests. Charter school advocates have targeted county board's of education as they can override denials by local school districts of petitions for charter schools.
