House party shooting that left one victim wounded in Elk Grove under investigation

A house party shooting that led to the injury of one participant is under investigation by Elk Grove Police.

Police officers were dispatched to the 8900 block of Gable Mills Place in north Laguna around 11:30 pm. on Friday, May 31 after receiving reports of gunshots. Responding officers found many of those in attendance leaving and found evidence of the shooting.

When questioning, officers learned one person had sustained a gun wound to a leg and went to an area hospital for treatment.

Officers learned the person throwing the party had rented the dwelling from a short-term web-based rental service. During the party, a group of people who were standing in front of the house were approached by a suspect described as an African American male wearing a red hoodie and started shooting.

A person standing in the group returned gunfire. During this exchange, the gun wound victim, who was approaching the party, was hit in the leg by a stray bullet.

Additionally, a parked vehicle and a nearby residence were struck by gunfire. The incident is an active and ongoing investigation and police request that anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Detective Bureau at (916) 478-8060 or the Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357).
