Serial restaurant burglary suspect caught on video, arrested by Elk Grove Police



A man previously convicted of burglarizing a restaurant was arrested by Elk Grove Police after he allegedly broke into a local restaurant. 

On Saturday, July 20, the owner of an Elk Grove restaurant on the 2700 block of Elk Grove Boulevard arrived at his business to a discover broken window and a burglarized cash register. With the assistance of video surveillance, Elk Grove Police detectives were able to identify the suspect as Andy Hon Vo Chong, 48, of Sacramento.

Chong was the suspect in a string of similar restaurant burglaries in Elk Grove and other communities. After being convicted and serving his sentence, Chong was released. 

With the assistance of Sacramento Police, Chong was located at a Sacramento motel on Thursday, July 25. Chong is in custody at the county jail and will be arraigned on Wednesday, July 31.

Chong is also being investigated as a person of interest in three similar burglaries.
