Suspect armed with semi-automatic weapons wounded in Lodi officer involved shooting



A Lodi Police officer was engaged in a shooting this morning where one suspect was allegedly armed with semi-automatic weapons.

At approximately 5:10 a.m. Lodi Police Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 900 block of Industrial Way. The first responding officer encountered the suspect armed with a semi-automatic rifle and a semi-automatic handgun. 

The gunfire exchange between the male suspect, 37 and the officer resulted in the suspect sustaining several gunshot wounds. Officers were able to take the suspect into custody and he was transported to an area hospital where he is currently in stable condition and expected to survive. 

The officer was uninjured. The shooting is being investigated by members of the Lodi Police Department Investigations Unit, members of the District Attorney's Office and the California Department of Justice.
