In an indication of the loosening of restrictions following the state and county health orders to shelter-in-place, Elk Grove has announced the resumption of curbside bulk garbage pick-ups.

The announcement said "Effective May 4, 2020, Republic Services is reinstating bulky waste, used motor oil and oil filters, household batteries, and appointment-based sharps collection services in our community." Republic Services is the city's contracted garbage collector.

The suspension of the service was announced on March 30. Interestingly, during the town hall meeting held by the city on April 28, one of the questions was about the resumption of the service with one resident expressing concern without the service, junk might be illegally dumped throughout the city.
