Two arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with deadly weapon of Galt Police officer

Two suspects are in custody at the Sacramento County Jail after they allegedly fired at a Galt Police officer.

Just after 3 a.m. on Saturday, October 23, during a patrol, a Galt Police officer spotted a vehicle on Boessow Road that had been associated with an earlier drunk driving incident. The suspect in that incident had been released.

As the officer approached the vehicle, he heard multiple gunshots, some of which landed near him. The officer called for assistance, and after a pursuit, the suspects were apprehended near Cherokee Lane and Boessow Road.

After locating evidence at the shooting location and the suspect's vehicle, police arrested Alejandra Reyes-Rios, 24 of Stockton, and Virginia Maria Montanez, 24, from Galt. Both suspects are charged with attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy, while Montanez has an additional charge of accessory after the fact.
Both suspect will be arraigned on Tuesday, October 26 and are not eligible for bail.
