While many other government entities nationally and in California have finished their decennial redistricting proceedings, the city of Elk Grove is just initiating its process.

In an email sent on Wednesday, February 2, Elk Grove City Clerk Jason Lindgren sent a request to an undisclosed list of recipients. The letter was provided by a reader.

As noted in Lindgren's letter, the city's process must be submitted to Sacramento County by April 17.
Of note, Lindgren extended the following invitation to the email recipients:

I offer the invitation to meet and discuss with you individually on any topic related to redistricting.  If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas, including insights on individuals or groups/organizations to include on the invite, please feel free to contact me and pass along the information or we can schedule a meeting.  I am also available to give presentations to groups on request.  I am happy to meet in whatever format of meeting works best for you (in-person, via teleconference, phone, email, etc.), but please keep in mind to remain safe in regards to meetings considering the pandemic environment we constantly adjust to as a community.

More information on redistricting is available on this page of the city's website. Below is Lingren's entire email.

Why would anyone spend their time trying to better our community and be involved when our city council absolutely ignores any and all concerns that the citizens bring forward? Even before the pandemic, the council seemed disinterested in citizens issues, but since the council has gone to zoom meetings, they've become completely deaf.

They don't really want our input, they just have to check the box that they asked for public engagement.
