California State Senate District 8 candidate endorsed by women's advocacy group

The two Democratic candidates in the highly-competitive race for the California State Senate District 8 are striving for any edge to differentiate their campaigns. Today, one of the candidates announced a significant advocacy group endorsement.

The Fed Dems of Sacramento announced they had endorsed Sacramento City Councilmember Angelique Ashby. In the endorsement announcement, Ashy's campaign described the Fed Dems as "a leading local Democratic club that promotes the feminist principles of equity, diversity, and inclusiveness and strives to get Democrats aligned on those principles elected to office."

With the Fem Dems endorsement, Ashby has built on support from national, statewide, and local women's organizations. Those groups include Emily's List, the California Legislative Democratic Women's Caucus, California Women's List, Moms in Office, and the National Women's Political Caucus,- California. Additionally, Planned Parenthood Advocates Mar Monte has given her a 100 percent rating.

Several women elected officials in Elk Grove have also endorsed Ashby. The list included Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen, Cosumnes Community Services District Director Jaclyn Moreno, and Elk Grove Unified School District Trustees Nancy Chaires-Espinoza and Gina Jamerson.
