Mailer for Big Real Estate interest supporting Guerra attack Big Oil supported Nguyen

In the proxy war waged by real estate interests against Big Oil, real estate interests have attacked California Assembly District 10 candidate Stephanie Nguyen tying her to the unpopular oil industry.

The mailer, which appears to be sent to Democratic voters, equates the amount of money spent on behalf of Nguyen in barrels of crude oil. According to the mailer, oil interests have spent over $900,000 supporting Elk Grove City Councilmember Nguyen, which, they say, is 11,078 barrels of oil.

In addition to barrels of oil, they claim that amount of oil produces over four million pounds of carbon dioxide, a primary greenhouse gas. The mailer concludes by saying, "the oil companies think she's worth it."

A unique feature of the mailer is that it folds out to a 17 by a 22-inch poster (see below)

The role of Big Oil contributions has become a top issue not only in the California Assembly District 10 race between Nguyen and her opponent, Sacramento City Councilmember Eric Guerra, but the California State Senate District 8 race. In that race, groups supporting former California Assemblymember and Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones highlighted the Big Oil contributions made on behalf of his opponent, Sacramento City Councilmember Angelique Ashby.

Along with mailers, Nguyen and Ashby's campaigns are tied to Big Oil in TV commercials in heavy rotation. Real estate interests support Guerra, including the California Association of Realtors, the California Apartment Association, and the California Building Industry Association, while Jones' support comes from groups, including SEIU Local 215, California School Employees Association, and California Environmental Voters.

The anti-Nguyen mailer folds out to poster size.
