Mayoral summit set

Mayor Gary Davis of Elk Grove, Mayor Andrew Meredith of Galt and Mayor Jo Anne Mounce of Lodi will co-host a mayoral summit centering on the three neighboring cities. The summit, sponsored by the Elk Grove Community Connection, will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at the Littleton Community Center , 410 Civic Drive in Galt beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The importance of the summit is summarized by Mayor Andrew Meredith, "The key to effective public service and true governance is the ability to collaborate with other entities with mutual interests. By coming together with leaders from Lodi and Elk Grove, the city of Galt has a lot to gain. Our city shares many issues with our neighbors; by coming together, we can tackle these issues as a more powerful force. I look forward to not only our first meeting, but also to making this a quarterly fixture for county-line politics."

This summit will be historic in many respects. Never before have the mayors from these three cities come together. States Mayor Gary Davis, "It is the first time and it is about time! Elk Grove stands only to gain by partnering with our neighbors to the South. I am optimistic we will find much common ground and many opportunities to work together. By doing so, Elk Grove will benefit."

The summit will begin with a networking reception, followed by interactive discussion, including a question and answer period on any and all issues and concerns on the minds of residents.
