ELK GROVE , CA – On Friday, March 21, 2008, the Elk Grove Police Department in conjunction with the Cosumnes Community Services District, the Elk Grove Unified School District and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department conducted a city wide curfew sweep.
The purpose of the curfew sweep was to take a proactive approach at preventing juvenile mischief through enforcement and education. Elk Grove Municipal Code (Section 9.28) prohibits juveniles from loitering in public places from 10:00 p.m. until daybreak when not accompanied by a parent, guardian, or adult whom is responsible for the care of the juvenile (some exceptions may apply).
As a result of the operation, 38 juveniles were cited and released to their parent(s) or guardian(s) for being in violation of the curfew ordinance. Future curfew sweeps are planned throughout the year.
