On Thursday, June 12 Elk Grove police responded to a call for gun shot fire on the 10000 block of Mosaic Way.
Responding officers discovered two vehicles and the front window of the residence had been struck. The homeowner who were home at the time of the shooting were not injured.
The police detained several suspects who attempted to flee the scene but no arrest have yet been made.
Ironically, less the two weeks ago Elk Grove News concluded its three part series (East Franklin Blues) on the dangers presented by empty homes brought on by the foreclosure crisis. Our report focused on Shana Way which intersects Mosaic. (See phone to the left.)
Specifically our point was that empty houses become crime magnets. While the house that was shot at was occupied, you can't help but wonder if the adjacent vacant houses on Mosaic and Shana Way (and practical every street in Elk Grove) will continue to forment this type of criminal activity.
