Posting on Elk Grove Online says Old Town haunt closing

I just want to shout out to all of the loyal brewery supporters over the years…So many of you have been complimentary about the beer and the brewery regulars have been the best! It’s been a heck of a 13-year run and I’m grateful to David Ogden for the opportunity to become full-time brewer in 1995 and turn a homebrewer’s dream into reality.

Please remember to “Support Your Local Brewery” and, in case you’re willing to make a little bit of a gas investment, come check out my new home, Auburn Alehouse (located in Old Town Auburn), where you’ll be reminded of the good ‘ol family spirit of the brewery that drew us all from the beginning.

Come on out Friday and/or Saturday to raise a pint and say goodbye.

Prost!

I knew EG Brewery was going to be a casualty after visiting Old Town merchants a few weeks ago. As I wrote afterwards, our merchants there are not doing well, and not surprisingly, it's due largely to the remodernization. EG Brewery said they lost so much business during the refurb, they never recovered. Look for another merchant closing on Oct 18. This is evidence we need to do what I said: Concentrate efforts on helping our existing businesses stay open, not on pie-in-the-sky schemes to bring in more business, that will never materialize due to the current economic climate.

Time for a reality check, EG candidates!
