Property crimes tick up slightly after busy summer months





For the month ending October 31, violent crimes in Elk Grove dropped according to a report by the Elk Grove Police Department.

In October there were 62 violent crimes reported. Violent crimes include homicide, forcibly rape, robbery and aggravated assault.

October was significantly lower than September which saw 113 violent criminal incidents. The bulk of the drop came with 49 cases of aggravated assault in October compared to 92 in September.

Property crime showed a slight increase in October with 289 incidents compared to 278 in September. Property crimes include burglary, arson, motor vehicle theft and larceny-theft.

The highest rate of property crime so far this year occurred in July with 352 reported incidents.
