Railroad Sweep Results In Numberous Citations

Yesterday afternoon's enforcement sweep of the Union Pacific Road corridor resulted in 12 citations according to Elk Grove Police.

Conducted between 3 and 6 pm yesterday, the sweep was a joint operation of the Elk Grove Police, Union Pacific Railroad Police and the Federal Rail Administration. The sweep was intended to reduce trespassing along the corridor.

The sweep was conducted from Elk Grove Blvd south to Bond Road. Last month an Elk Grove teenager was killed along this stretch.

Police report eight citation were issued to juveniles for trespassing and four to adults for crossing gate violations.
