Suspected Street Car Racing Incident Results In Fatality

18 year-old driver arrested


California Highway Patrol arrested 18-year old Jia Hui Chen of Stockton on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter following a fatal car accident last night in Elk Grove.

According to reports, at 9:40 PM Chen was driving her Honda Civic southbound on Highway 99 near Grantline when she lost control of the vehicle and hit a oak tree which split the car in half. Upon impact, passenger 28 year-old Koob Vang of Stockton was ejected from the car.

Vang was pronounced dead at the scene. Chen did not suffer any injuries.

Chen is being held on a $30,000 bail at the county jail. CHP believe Chen may have been involved in a race with a Honda CRX.
