After our earlier post regarding Elk Grove's share of the stimulus package, the City of Elk Grove sent a press release that reminded us that there is an additional $2.48 million doled to the city from transportation work. Here is the information about the additional funds and how they will be used

Road Rehabilitation: $2,483,000 in Economic Stimulus Funding

As with every city in California, maintenance needs often times outweigh the available funding. The maintenance of city roads is a continuous top priority in the City of Elk Grove.

The infusion of economic stimulus funding for pavement maintenance will enable the City to add more city streets to its existing pavement maintenance program. The City has invested $4 million in its pavement program for this year and the additional $2.4 million of economic stimulus will enable more streets to be maintained this year.

The dollars are being used on major transportation improvements (not just filling potholes and striping), but rather, asphalt concrete overlay and slurry seals on city streets to improve rideability and maintain pavement integrity.
