On October 31, 2008, the Elk Grove Police Department responded to a “takeover” style bank robbery at the Bank of America located at 5001 Laguna Blvd.

During the bank robbery, three masked men entered the bank and ordered everyone to the floor. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun during the robbery.

The other two suspects jumped over a counter and took an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency from the teller drawers. The bank robbery suspects then fled in a stolen vehicle that was found abandoned moments after the robbery on a nearby street.

The stolen vehicle was processed by Crime Scene Investigators from the Elk Grove Police Department and evidence was recovered. The recovered evidence was later transferred to the Sacramento County Crime Lab for further processing.

The Sacramento County Crime Lab was able to connect 28-year-old Edwolon Beshears of Sacramento to the bank robbery through DNA evidence. Beshears has been in custody at the Sacramento County Jail since November of 2008 for an unrelated offense.

The investigation into this bank robbery continues as detectives attempt to identify the other suspects involved.
