Today marks the eighth anniversary of the 9-11 attacks on America.
For many younger people, this was “were were you” reference point much like the JKF assassination was for older generations. Indeed, I cannot think of anybody old enough to remember who does not know where they were as the events of that day unfolded.
Yet, nine years later, as a nation we seem to be collectively forgetful.
There has been little mention in the mainstream media. I was surprised there was, to the best of my knowledge, no mention of it at Wednesday's city council meeting.
Amidst all the political battles from a national level on down to our own local scene, we must all take care to never forget that horrendous day.
