Is this the meeting that certain Charter commissioners where told they couldn't attend by the organizer?
James, I believe the community would say a "Big Thanks" to EGCC for holding this event which to the best of my knowledge has been the only one held that was open to the PUBLIC. From the list of past meetings held they seem to have been held at HOA's and private homes, also with only one or two of the Commission attending. Do I detect a little "dig" here?
James,
Seems you have some facts confused. A community group sponsored and paid for the recent forum. The topic of the forum was Elk Grove's Charter. And as such, the commissioner of the Charter Committee was one of the speakers. The forum was open to all to attend; it was advertised in the Citizen; an email blast of nearly 6,000 individuals and HOA's was sent; and the forum was agendized as a special city council meeting so it was advertised on the city's web site as well. So, to be clear, your issue is with the topic/subject; and NOT the organization that created an opportunity for you to attend to judge the CONTENT of the charter. Without this community group, you would never have gotten a chance to attend and become educated on the subject. Bottom line, don't kill the messenger because you didn't like what he had to say....got a problem with the Charter or it's committee...than focus on them.
Yes, the community group run by the community activist sponsored and paid for this forum. That same community activist also threatened to cancel the meeting at the last minute and told certain Charter Commissioners that they were not welcome to attend. Maybe Linda Ford and the Lee's need to get better control of thier spokesperson before she disenfranchises more voters.
