On October 31, 2009 at 9:39 p.m., the Elk Grove Police Department responded to a shooting in the 9200 block of Elk Grove Blvd. Officers located a 24-year-old male victim suffering from a non-life threatening gun shot wound to the lower abdomen.
During the course of the investigation, officers determined that the victim had been involved in a verbal argument and subsequent fist fight with the suspect, later identified as 24-year-old Sacramento resident Irvin Laverne Cook (DOB 12-15-84).
