Craig Promoted To Assistant City Manager

EGN has learned that Rebecca Craig has been promoted to Elk Grove Assistant City Manager. Craig, who is currently the city finance manager, replaces Cody Tubbs who left city employment last month.

Below find a copy of an internal e-mail sent from Elk Grove City Manager Laura Gill announcing the promotion. It is not currently known how much Craig will make in her new capacity.

Mayor, Council Members, and Colleagues:

I am pleased to announce that as of today, Becky Craig will serve as the City’s Assistant City Manager.

Since 2007, Becky has served as the City’s Finance Director and most recently the Interim Assistant City Manager. Becky has a wealth of knowledge of the interworking of the City of Elk Grove. Becky has done a great job as the interim ACM, and I know she’ll continue to excel in the new position.


Becky managed the City’s Finance Department during a critical point in the City’s history, ensuring the City’s budget was balanced during unprecedented economic times. She has improved customer service to the business community, was instrumental in the City’s MOU with the Elk Grove Police Officers Association, and has landed numerous national awards recognizing the City’s budget and accounting practices.

I’m confident that Becky will be an asset to ensuring the City’s Development Services Department is responsive, efficient and serving the residents of Elk Grove with the highest integrity.

The City will begin recruiting for the Finance Director position later this week.
