Dunn convicted in 2006 shooting deaths that stunned community


A man who went on a shooting spree in Elk Grove that left two people dead was convicted of first degree murder with special circumstances this afternoon in Sacramento County Superior Court.

Aaron Dunn was convicted of first degree murder in the March 26, 2006 shooting spree that killed Michael Daley and Jon Johnson. Dunn was also convicted on four counts of attempted murder but found not guilty on one charge.

Both victims were leaving Laguna Boulevard restaurants with their families when they were gunned down. Dunn was stopped after being wounded by Elk Grove Police officers.

The sentencing phase of the trial will begin April 23. Dunn is eligible for the death penalty.
