Lungren is failing constituents to benefit his party

Over the next few days four of five members of the Elk Grove City Council will descent on Washington DC to lobby on behalf of the city. The council members are participants in the annual "Cap to Cap" lobbying trip organized by the Sacramento County Chamber of Commerce.

As reported in today's Elk Grove Citizen, even though Elk Grove congressional representative Republican Dan Lungren has agreed with his party's leadership to not seek federal funds for his district, mayor Sophia Scherman said they will still visit Lungren.

Scherman went on to say:
“He can’t do anything right now, but he has in the past and will in the future,” she said.
The good mayor seems to be defending Lungren's desire to advance the agenda of his party over the needs  of his constituents. Perhaps Scherman ought to replace “can’t” with “won’t.”

As for Lungren, the correct term word is “can’t” because he “won’t” put the needs of his constituents ahead of the leadership demands of his party. Or to paraphrase the famous line from the movie Cool Hand Luke, What he have here is a failure of leadership!

4? You HAVE GOT to be kidding. 2 maybe... but 4? That's ridiculous. The two 'extra' tag-a-longs should be required to pay their own way. The tax payer should not have to foot the bill for wasteful expenditures or personal campaign tours. Shame on who-ever is responsible for letting this wasteful travel expenditure be approved.

As for Lungren... it's obvious there is no politically biased news reporting on this blog. Uh huh.. riiiiight.

Good grief.
