Will also consider utility tax revision

The highly anticipated Wednesday, April 14 Elk Grove City Council Meeting agenda has been released and the SOI topic has been placed at top of the regular action items list.

Prior to hearing the SOI item, the city council will hear five presentations, approve the consent calendar and take public comment on non-agendized items. This matter should take less than an hour to complete.

While the meeting is scheduled to start at 6:00 PM, it is expected the council chamber will be filled with overflow watching the proceedings from the lobby. There is a rally planned at 5:00 PM that organizers expect will attract several hundred people.

In addition to hearing the SOI item, the council will consider revising the city's utility tax and increasing retirement benefits when there is a reduction in staff.

The utility tax issue could be a thorny issue for City Council Member Jim Cooper, who is currently running for Sacramento County Sheriff. Cooper’s main opponent, Scott Jones, has characterized Cooper’s postion on the matter as supporting a tax increase.
