On Friday, May 28, 2010 at 3:49 p.m., the Elk Grove Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call from a residence in the 5900 block of Orchard Hill Way regarding a shooting. A male called 9-1-1 and indicated that his wife had been shot.

Upon arrival, officers contacted and detained the male (identified as 64-year-old Willie Harry) inside the residence. A 60-year-old female was discovered in an upstairs bedroom suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head.

Emergency medical personnel arrived and determine the female was deceased. The name of the deceased victim has not been released and identification will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

Officers also discovered a rifle in the bedroom where the victim was found, and believe that this weapon was used in the shooting. Willie Harry and his wife were the only occupants inside the residence at the time of the shooting.

Through investigative efforts, detectives determined that Willie Harry was responsible for shooting his wife. Willie Harry (photograph not available) was arrested for Penal Code 187 (Murder) and transported to the Sacramento County Jail for processing.
