EG Police arrest probationer for shoplifting, struggling with officers

An Elk Grove man was arrested last night following a shoplifting incident.

According to police reports, 24-year old Diedrick Burnett was observed shoplifting from a business on the 5000 block of Laguna Boulevard. Responding police officers located Burnett a short distance away and when officers attempted to contact him, he threw a bottle of alcohol in the bushes and ran away.

Officers gave chase and after a brief struggle, detained the suspect. A records search revealed Burnett was on probation. The suspect was arrestest and tranferred to the county jail.
