Registered Sex Offender Comedian Can't Stand the Media's Whitehot Spotlight

On June 29, 2010, 29-year-old Marco Arturo Quintero phoned the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Major Crimes Bureau detective assigned to his case and told the detective he wanted to turn himself in. Quintero told the detective he had to turn himself in because of the pressure placed on his fugitive status by the Sacramento-area media.

Quintero is a registered sex offender who performs as a standup comedian in local comedy clubs. A warrant had been issued for his arrest because he failed to register his new home address with authorities.

At 9:15 a.m. Quintero drove to the Elk Grove Police Department (EGPD) on Laguna Palms Drive where he was met by EGPD officers and taken into custody. The officers booked Quintero into the Sacramento County Main Jail on the felony charge of being a registered sex offender who failed to register his new address within five working days.

He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on July 1, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. in Department 62.
