The Bera for Congress Campaign announced earlier today that it had achieved yet another strong fundraising quarter, raising $339,309. Dr. Ami Bera has now raised $1.56 million, and the campaign has $1.14 million cash on hand.
This is the fifth consecutive quarter Bera has out raised his opponent, incumbent Dan Lungren, R-Gold River.
“I’m overwhelmingly grateful for the support our campaign continues to receive,” Bera said. “It’s clear that our message of job creation and economic opportunity is resonating. Ordinary Americans are tired of career politicians and they’re clearly ready to change the conversation in Washington.”
Bera’s Campaign Manager Lucinda Guinn said the strong fundraising numbers reflect the campaign’s grassroots momentum.
“Our fundraising numbers demonstrate the broad base of support Dr. Bera is gaining in northern California,” Guinn asserted. “Not only did we out-fundraise Dan Lungren for the fifth consecutive quarter, but we’ve done so with the support of thousands of local residents – over 83 percent of our donors are from California. “
Bera goes into the fall with a $340,000 cash-on-hand advantage over Lungren. According to Bera's campaign Lungren’s is highly reliant on corporate PACS and special interest groups while they note their campaign raised funds from 2,110 individual donors.
Separately the Bera campaign released a video today criticizing Lungren for what they call his continued support of big oil and off-shore oil drilling.
