Statistically, how would excessive speed not have played a role? How likely is it that a car becomes "airborne" going forty five?
I've been outside painting/sealing my front deck over the past two weeks and have had the glorious burden of watching a few hundred neighbors speed down our collector road. Co-workers, friends and casual acquaintances likely among them, a few of these speeders are nothing more than future Elk Grovian carborne fatalities. They will kill themselves and/or others to shave a few minutes off their lengthly commutes and shopping excursions...yet truthfully, these deaths/injuries are just the ancillary costs of extreme car dependency. Just a few dead; we can deal with that, no?
We built our roads so wide, so sterile, and so devoid of human activity for the sake of "safety" that there isn't anyone who thinks they need to be driven at the speed limit...and so it is we die on Elk Grove Blvd, on Laguna, on Bruceville, on...
