Elk Grove Police arrested a suspected burglar yesterday afternoon following a vehicle pursuit that ended in a grocery store parking lot.
According to police reports, officers responded to a possible in-progress vandalism on the 8900 block of North Camden Drive. A witness reported that the person responsible for the vandalism had just left the area in a white SUV.
Responding officers arrived and located a vehicle matching the description and attempted an enforcement stop. The driver of the vehicle failed to stopped and led police on a pursuit to the FoodCo parking lot on Calvine Road.
Once in the parking lot, the suspect left the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers were able to detain 37-year old Jimmy Buckley of Carmichael after a brief struggle.
During the course of their investigation it was determined the vandalism was actually a vehicle burglary and the vehicle Buckley was driving was also stolen. The stolen property found in the car was returned to victim on North Camden.
Buckley was arrested and transferred to the county jail.
