At 9:05 p.m., last night the Elk Grove Police Department responded to a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian at Elk Grove Boulevard and Waterman Road.
According to police reports, upon arrival at the scene officers discovered that a 34-year-old man had been struck by a Honda Del Sol that had been travelling southbound on Waterman Rd. The pedestrian had been crossing on the north side of Elk Grove Blvd. and was walking within a marked crosswalk at the time of the collision.
The pedestrian suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment. EGPD was later advised that the pedestrian had passed away as a result of the injuries sustained from the collision.
The identity of the pedestrian will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
The 18-year-old driver of the vehicle involved in the collision was contacted at the scene by officers. At this time, the Elk Grove Police Department Traffic Bureau will be conducting an investigation into the collision. Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to call (916) 478-8148.
