During this week's Elk Grove City Council meeting members will consider the formation of a sub-committee on the city's Sphere of Influence (SOI) application with the the Sacramento LAFCO agency.
The sub-committee request comes as a result of a request from Council Member Gary Davis to consider its formation during the September 8, 2010 council meeting. The purpose of the committee is to monitor the progress of the application as it works though LAFCO.
The SOI process started in 2007 and has seen its share of controversy. Last spring, at the urging of many Elk Grove and regional residents, the Cosumnes River 100-year floodplain was removed from the application. An amended application was submitted to LAFCO in August that reflects the removal of the floodplain.
In other business, the council will consider appointment to the city's youth commission and conduct a hearing to consider amending the mitigated negative declaration and mitigation monitoring reporting program adopted for the Franklin Crossing amended project.
The meeting will be held at city hall on Wednesday, September 22 at 6:00 p.m.
