Posed as door-to-door salesmen; steal cash and piggy banks

The Elk Grove Police Department is asking for the community’s help in locating two suspects who were involved in a residential robbery.

On September 15, 2010 at 5:00 p.m., the two suspects used a “ruse” of selling magazines to gain entry into a residence in the 9400 block of Havenview Way. Once inside, one of the suspects displayed a handgun as the other suspect entered and searched the residence.

The suspects were able to remove a safe containing U.S. currency and two piggy banks contain coins. Both suspects fled the residence with the stolen property and were last seen driving away from the location in a blue over gray mid-1980's Oldsmobile Cutlass two-door coupe with large chrome wheels. The residents were not injured during the robbery.

Detectives arraigned for the victims to meet with a sketch artist in order to help identify the two suspects involved. Through investigative efforts, Detectives were able to identify one of the suspects involved as 28-year-old Adam Coleman (photo attached) who was armed with a handgun during the robbery. An arrest warrant has been issued for Coleman and Detectives have been unable to locate him at his Sacramento residence.

Detectives have been unable to identify the second suspect, who was described as a African-American male adult (medium complexion), approximately nineteen years old, five feet eleven inches tall (5`11"), approximately two hundred twenty pounds (220 lbs) with a dreadlock hairstyle (sketch attached).

Anyone with information regarding this robbery is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Detective Bureau at (916) 478-8060 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357). Callers to Crime Alert can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.00. Tips can also be sent via SMS text message by entering CRIMES (274637) on a cell phone, followed by Tip732 (agency identification number) and the message.
