Car thief eludes Elk Grove Policeon road, by foot

A car thief was able to elude Elk Grove Police following a car and foot chase early Friday morning.

According to police department reports, officers responded to the 8700 block of Cheer Court regarding a pickup truck that had been stolen. Responding officers were able to locate the stolen vehicle travelling westbound on Elk Grove Boulevard.

The officers attempted to initiate an enforcement stop and the unidentified driver led the officers on a 12-mile pursuit that ended near the city of Thornton. The unidentified driver of the stolen truck exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers established a perimeter but were unable to locate the suspect.
