An Elk Grove man was arrested late yesterday afternoon after he attempted a drive-by bike robbery.

According to Elk Grove Police reports, 24-year old David Woodson was driving his vehicle by an acquaintance when he stopped his vehicle, assaulted his 17-year old male victim and placed the victim's bicycle in the trunk of his car. The allegedly assault and robbery took place near West Camden Drive and Elk Grove-Florin Road.

As Woodson was preparing to leave the scene, a witness called Elk Grove Police and he removed the bike from his vehicle and fled the area. Responding officers located Woodson a short distance away and initiated an enforcement stop.

The suspect was positively identified by the victim, arrested and tranferred to the county jail.
