Second  Teen Fatality in Elk Grove in less than a month

On June 18, 2011 at 11:49 p.m., the Elk Grove Police Department responded to a call of a single vehicle collision in the 8600 block of Waterman Road.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that a 1998 Buick Century travelling southbound on Waterman Road had driven off the roadway and collided with a power pole. After colliding with the power pole, the vehicle overturned and came to rest on its roof.

Officers discovered that an unidentified teenaged male passenger, who appears to have been seated in the backseat of the vehicle, was deceased. The male driver and a male front seat passenger (both teenagers) were transported to a local area hospital for treatment of their non-life threatening injuries.

This death marks the second vehicle collision in Elk Grove in less than a month involving a teenager. On Memorial Day weekend  another passenger was killed in a suspected DUI single vehicle collision on Power Inn Road.

Identification of the deceased passenger will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. The cause of the collision is under investigation.

At this time, the collision is under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Traffic Bureau at (916)478-8148.
