Suspects accused of Acampo murder

Elk Grove Police assisted San Joaquin Sheriff`s Department in the arrest of a Galt man suspect of murder early Saturday morning.

According to Elk Grove Police Department reports, officers contacted 23-year old Kevin Jackson of Galt after a vehicle he was driving struck a tree near Laguna Springs Way and Swift Fox Way. During the investigation, officers developed information that there was a loaded firearm inside the vehicle and Jackson was arrested and transported to the county jail.

Later that morning the San Joaquin Sheriff`s Department contacted Elk Grove Police and that Jackson and a female passenger, Molly Wilson of Galt, were both wanted for questioning regarding a homicide. Wilson was detained at an area hospital for injuries sustained during the collision and was later turned over to a representative of the San Joaquin Sheriff`s Department.

Sheriff's Office announced that the victim, who had been on life support since the Wednesday shooting, was dead. He was identified as Brian McDaniel, 31. McDaniel was found in a vineyard around 8 p.m. Wednesday near a home in the 1400 block of East Acampo Road with and apparent gunshot wound to the head.
