Citizen detains suspect, other suspect escapes

With the help of a vigilant citizen, Elk Grove Police arrested a teenage adult burglary suspect late last night.


According to Elk Grove Police, officers responded to an in-progress burglary on the 9100 block of Falcon Creek Circle. At the same time, a neighbor hear a loud crashing sound in his back yard and discovered 18-year-old suspect Sammy Espinoza in his yard.

The neighbor was able to detain the suspect but unable to detain an accomplice. When officers arrive, they discovered that Espinoza was in possession of property taken during the burglary.

Officers checked the residence that had been burglarized and discovered the interior had been vandalized. Espinoza was arrested and transferred to the county jail.
