Elk Grove Police used air support to help capture a Redding man wanted for a parole violation yesterday afternoon in Elk Grove.

According to police reports, officers were dispatched to the 9500 block of Elk Grove-Florin Road. to check on the welfare of a a man lying on the ground. Responding officers contacted a sleeping 48-year-old Darrell Stinnett.

Upon contact, the suspect provided false information about his identity. A records check revealed Stinnett was a wanted parolee at which point he ran away.

Additional officers and the Sheriff's Department helicopter were deployed to find the suspect who was located in hiding in bushes on the 8800 block of Orton St. Stinnett was arrested and transferred to the county jail.
