An Elk Grove man was arrested yesterday morning after a shoplifting incident that included the suspect brandishing a knife.

According to Elk Grove Police Department reports, 23-yer-old James Gilmore was observed shoplifting by an employee at the the Rite Aid on Elk Grove Blvd. The store employee confronted the suspect inside the store but he pushed his way past the employee and left the store.

When the employee approached Gilmore outside the store, the suspect brandished a knife and threatened the worker. Gilmore fled the store northbound on Bruceville Rd. on a bicycle and was located and detained a short distance away by responding officers.

After being positively identified by witnesses, Gilmore was arrested and transferred to the county jail.
