Concepción de Ataco hit by hurricane flooding
The City of Elk Grove is organizing an urgent clothing drive to support the people of Concepción de Ataco, El Salvador, the City of Elk Grove’s first official Sister City. Hurricane-generated flooding and mudslides have devastated portions of Concepción de Ataco, leaving many of the citizens without food, clothing or shelter.
"As our Sister City, this is what what we must do to support our extended family," said Elk Grove Mayor Steve Detrick. "To see the devastation in our Sister City Concepcion de Ataco, it important for all of us to draw together to help them."
Residents are encouraged to bring new or gently used clothing, shoes and blankets by November 10 to Elk Grove City Hall at 8401 Laguna Palms Way.
For more information, call the City of Elk Grove at 916-691-CITY (2489).
