Caught after short foot pursuit
An early morning routine traffic stop by Elk Grove Police today resulted in the arrest of a car thief after a brief foot pursuit.
According to police department reports, 24-year-old Truong Nguyen of Elk Grove was stopped near Elk Grove Florin Road and Four Seasons Drive for a vehicle code violation. As he pulled over, Nguyen reportedly left the vehicle then attempted to flee the area on foot.
After a brief pursuit the suspect was apprehended. After contacting the registered owner of the vehicle, officers determined that it had been stolen.
Nguyen was arrested and transferred to the county jail.
