Collision Kills Two in Elk Grove

At 5:41 p.m. today, the Elk Grove Police Department responded to several calls regarding a two vehicle collision on Kammerer Rd. just east of McMillan Rd.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that a 2003 Ford Focus and a 1991 Ford Mustang had been involved in a collision. The driver of the Ford Focus was contacted at the scene and found to be alert and conscious.
He was transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment. The two occupants inside the Ford Mustang (an unidentified male and female) were found to be deceased. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has identified the victims of 21-year-old Ashley Simpson and 34-year-old Christopher Ragosa, both of Elk Grove.
Based on information obtained during the investigation, traffic investigators have determined that the female driver of the Ford Mustang was travelling westbound on Kammerer Road when she lost control of the vehicle and crossed into oncoming traffic. When the Ford Mustang crossed into the lane of oncoming traffic, it was struck by a Ford Focus that was traveling in the opposite direction.
As a result of the collision, the Ford Mustang was forced off the roadway and into a ditch. The driver of the vehicle was partially ejected from inside the vehicle and both occupants suffered fatal injuries.
The cause of the collision is under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Traffic Bureau at (916) 478-8148.
