In this season of resolutions, one Elk Grove Councilman is urging constituents to engage in community volunteering.

Citing his families involvement in various activities since locating to Elk Grove, Councilman Steve Detrick is encouraging residents to contribute their time to any number of local organizations.

We became involved in many segments of the Elk Grove community including family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and our business," Detrick said. "Our community involvement is integrated into our everyday lives with church, school, sports, civic involvement and more."

Among the several organizations Detrick has suggested include the Senior Center of Elk GroveTeen Center USAElk Grove Unified School DistrictPolice Activity LeagueElk Grove Police Department’s VolunteersElk Grove Police Department Neighborhood Watch ProgramStrauss FestivalConsumnes Community Service District (CSD) Parks and Fire DepartmentElk Grove Food Bank and all the various recreation and competitive boys/girls sporting teams.

"The message I want to share is that the gifts my family and I have received from giving-back to the Elk Grove community far outweighs any contributions we’ve made over the years, Detrick said. "I challenge you and your families to become active members in our community by engaging and inspiring positive change, whether it is a few hours a day, week, month, or year."
